Supply Chain Consultant,Sue Allerton, talks of the common reasons why companies experience difficulties in their supply chain. The most common cause for failure is due to breakdown of communications, both internal and external to the organisation.
Three Ways to Listen
Today's Key Points
- Take responsibility for your communications. Tell people what you want or need from them. If you want them to listen to you, tell them.
- Communication runs on different levels. Effective communication at one level in an organisation, or within a certain social setting, does not automatically mean effective communication is happening at other organisational levels or between people in other social settings. Be aware of this and aim to improve your communication at all levels or settings.
- Tap into the creativity of your friends and colleagues, and shine your own light. Draw on that 66% of unused brain power! Make suggestions - don't hide your talents.
- Don't assume that people know what is going on around them. You may be surprised at how unobservant people can be. If you have a message for someone - if you want someone to know something - tell them.
Three Ways to Listen

Thanks for a great interview Barbara, I just wanted to let you know that I have just launched SupplyDynamicsOnline.com to enable me to blog about how important people and communication are in achieving supply chain excellence and to share resources and ideas with others in the field. My first article is about this interview and gives links to Relationship Matters.
